If your child's head measures 53.9 cm, we would strongly recommend you go for the size S. In our experience the S size will be a good fit. Don't be tempted to buy a helmet that they will grow into, as it won't offer full protection. A 5-year-old's head grows approximately 0.5 cm in circumference in a year.
